11 Jan 2012 • by Natalie Aster

LONDON – At its Annual General Meeting Nippon Avionics (commonly known as Avio) has confirmed its major goals and development directions for upcoming years. They are:

  • Contribution to the strengthening of national defense systems, R&D activities in this field
  • Research projects for the Ministry of Defense regarding space technologies
  • National safety infrastructure improvement (such as firefight services) to eliminate Japanese earthquake consequences and prevent new disasters
  • Accelerated penetration of non-defence industries
  • Cooperation with companies developing eco-friendly technologies (f.e. solar cells, rechargeable batteries, MEMS)
  • China, India, Southeast Asia are sales focusing areas

As can be seen, company’s course is focused on collaborating with Ministry of Defence and contributing to alternative energy R&D activities. Both directions are quite promising: the former will bring government contracts which are always paid-off; the latter will let Avio into rapidly developing and prospective industry. The new business strategy assures shareholders of company’s success.

Nippon Avionics was not quite profitable in the last periods. September 2011 results brought a decline in financial loss comparing to June numbers; however, the indices look poor against flat revenues and gross profits. FY ended March 2011 showed net income fall from JPY 157 M in the previous period to (183) M in the latest. New business strategy is invoked to bring Avio back to prosperous list.
