Belgrade City Review
Belgrade is one of the largest metropolitan regions in the Balkans, second only to Athens. The city was badly hit by the dissolution of the socialist Yugoslavia. Formerly large industrial basins with tens of thousands of employees are struggling to survive in a market economy. However, the city's manufacturing still exports €2 billion annually. Novi Beograd has emerged as the city's most developed district, with many modern buildings and concentration of service industries.
