Global demand/supply for polysilicon for photovoltaic is expected to face an oversupply of about 23,495tons this year. It is equivalent to about 15% of the estimated total polysilicon demand of 174,088tons. Polysilicon production was in short supply last year with booming demand of photovoltaics. However, the supply/demand condition was reversed. As most polysilicon companies expanded their production lines and new companies entered into the market, which dramatically increased the supply. This is because demand for photovoltaic polysilicon for photovoltaic increased by about 19% compared to previous year, while the supply increased by about 48%.

Global top 10 companies are not affected by supply/demand circumstances since they are mostly providing stable supplied under the long-term contract. The current demand/supply condition is expected to last until at least 2013 so there would be a big gap between polysilicon leading companies and late starters.
