Summary
The Malaysian reinsurance segment experienced a price increase of up to XX% due to the 2010–2011 floods, which affected Northern Malaysia in the November 2010 and Southern Malaysia in January 2011. Further, with the introduction of risk based capital in 2009 the Malaysian reinsurance segment experienced a period of consolidation, which is expected to continue through 2012.
During the review period, the Malaysian government liberalized the reinsurance segment and allowed international reinsurers and brokers to operate in the country.
