Manganese is primarily used in the steel industry and Chongqing Tycoon Manganese Co. Ltd. and Guangxi Dameng Manganese Industry Co. Ltd are the major producers of manganese in China. China also imports manganese ore as the domestic ore available is unable to meet demand. Liaoning in Northeast China, Chongqing in Southwest China, Guangxi, Hunan and Guizhou are the areas of China with the largest manganese reserves. Growth in end-user markets is expected to fuel the growth of China’s manganese market, and total production is estimated to reach XX million tons by 2015.
