Oil & Gas

The company’s oil and gas products and services cover all aspects of bringing product to market. Services include reservoir analysis to production and delivery, with focus on gravity-based structures and fixed or floating installations. Aker Marine Contractors provides marine contracting services to the oil and gas industry world-wide. These services include concept development, detail engineering, procurement, fabrication related to marine operations and subsea installations.

Engineering & Construction

Aker Kvaerner provides design, engineering, project management, procurement and construction services to a number of industrial sectors on a world-wide basis. The Engineering & Construction business area operates internationally, its principal offices being located in the US, the UK, the Netherlands, Asia and Australia. The Group offers a range of services that are necessary to realize global projects from conception to start-up. These services include engineering studies, including bankable feasibility and environmental studies, total project management, engineering and design, procurement, construction and maintenance services. The Engineering & Construction sector engages in operations in a number of countries, with emphasis on the USA, Northern Europe, Asia and Australia.

Shipbuilding

Aker Kvaerner’s shipbuilding activities comprise three shipbuilding entities. The largest, Kvaerner Masa-Yards, has one yard in Helsinki and one in Turku in Finland. Kvaerner Masa-Yards is a builder of cruise ships and specialized vessels. Kvaerner Warnow Werft in Rostock, Germany, and Kvaerner Philadelphia Shipyard primarily build containerships.

Kvaerner Eureka

Kværner Eureka is a multi-skilled company with extensive experience in development and refurbishment of defense equipment. The Defense Division carries out design, production and integration of turrets and missile launching systems.

Maritime Well Service AS (MWS) supplies Wireline, Tractor and Cased Hole Logging Services to the technology oriented North Sea oil and gas industry. MWS specializes in mechanical wireline operations and data acquisition with all cable sizes.

Maritime Hydraulics, an Aker Kvaerner subsidiary, supplies drilling equipment and facilities. Hydraulics can also supply Marine Loading/Unloading technology via a specialist UK based company, Woodfield Systems.

Maritime Pusnes designs and supplies all types of deck machinery and mooring systems for marine and offshore applications. Its main business areas comprise Offshore mooring systems, Offshore loading systems and Marine deck machinery.

Kvaerner Process Systems supplies selected process equipment for the treatment of oil, gas, produced water and solids for the upstream oil and gas industry, offshore, as well as onshore. It owns proprietary/novel technology within Multiphase Turbine Separation, Heavy Crude Treatment, Gas Conditioning, MEG Reclamation and Regeneration, Sulphate Removal, VOC Recovery and Sand Management Systems.

Significant Events

The company, in 2008, has started a facility for the production of buoyancy modules for deepwater marine drilling risers at its subsea manufacturing center in Malaysia.

The company and Well Processing have signed a co-operation agreement to bring a new technology offering onto the marketplace. The combination of subsea water treatment and injection targets to improve oil recovery and enhance oil production from offshore produced fields.

In April 2009, Aker Solutions has officially opened its expanded service and maintenance base at Aagotnes outside Bergen, Norway. The expansion would enable Aker Solutions to further improve its onshore and offshore service support for subsea customers operating off the coast of Norway.

On July 8, 2009, Aker Solutions ASA announced it has signed a contract with Maersk FPSOs for a JV at the Peregrino oil field offshore Brazil. The companies would work together to perform mooring installation work.

In August 2009, Linc Energy Pty. Ltd. has executed a contract with Aker Solutions to jointly develop the conceptual design of Linc Energy's proposed 20,000 barrels per day commercial gas to liquids facility that is planned to be based in South Australia.
