The residential construction in Montenegro registered an average annual growth of 15% between 2000 and 2007. The office supply in Montenegro, especially in the capital Podgorica, is very limited.
In 2007 the demand for apartments in Podgorica was fueled by the increasing purchasing power of the population, favourable credit policies and lower interest rates.
The construction sector is backed strongly by the tourism and real estate developments. Montenegro’s tourism revenue rose by an annual 7.4% to EUR 403 mln. The Montenegrin real estate sector accounted for 38.5% of the FDI inflow in the country.
