Czech Republic Construction Market Report
The Czech Republic's gross domestic product (GDP) growth increased by 4.7% on the year in the third quarter of 2008, according to preliminary data of the Czech Statistical Office. In 2007 the GDP marked a 6.0% annual increase, slowing down from 6.8% in 2006, according to data of the Czech Finance Ministry. For the period 2009-2011 the GDP is projected to slow down to an average 2.4%. For 2008 the country's inflation rate is forecast to rise to 6.3% compared to 2.8% in 2007.
The construction output amounted to CZK 495.5 bln, in the first 11 months of 2008, up 5.46% year-on-year. The construction industry accounted for 6.17% of the GDP in the first quarter of 2008 and for 5.8% in 2007.
