Tosoh Corporation engages in the manufacture and sale of inorganic chemicals, petrochemicals, and specialty materials in Japan and internationally. The company operates in four segments: Specialty, Basic, Petrochemical, and Service. The Specialty segment provides organic chemicals, such as methylene diphenyl diisocyanate, ethyleneamines, polyurethane catalysts, bromine, hydrobromic acid, flame retardants, chelating agents, solvents, and high-purity ethylene dichloride; specialty materials, including yttria-stabilized zirconia powders and compounds, electrolytic manganese dioxide, zeolite molecular sieves, and zeolite for catalysts; and electronic materials comprising silica glass materials, and fabricated and machined quartzware. This segment also offers automated random-access enzyme immunoassay systems, reagent systems, automated glycohemoglobin analyzers, real-time fluorescence monitoring systems, and separation media for biopharmaceutical purification. The Basic segment offers caustic soda, vinyl chloride monomer, polyvinyl chloride, calcium hypochlorite, and sodium bicarbonate, as well as cement, ordinary Portland cement, Portland fly-ash cement, and Portland blast-furnace slag cement. The Petrochemical segment provides olefins, including ethylene, propylene, C4 fraction, tertiary butyl alcohol, cumene, and aromatic compounds, as well as polymers, such as high and low density polyethylene, ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, adhesive polymer, polyvinyl chloride paste, polychloroprene rubber, chlorosulphonated polyethylene, alkylated chlorosulphonated polyethylene, polyphenylene sulfide resins, and C9 hydrocarbon resins. The Service segment offers analytical, information technology, personnel management, and logistics services. The company serves various markets, including agriculture, automotive, building and construction, bulk commodities, clinical diagnostics, and communications. Tosoh Corporation was founded in 1935 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
