Unsaturated polyester resins (UPR) are the most widely used resin type for composites, comprising in excess of 80% of all thermoset resins (others being epoxies, phenolics, acrylics, imides, and urethanes). Unsaturated polyester resin is the target of this market study; in particular, the focus is on the portion of polyester resins which are used in fiber-reinforced (structural) applications and those which go into non-reinforced uses such as artificial marble or onyx, polymer concrete, and gel coats.

The polyester resin industry is quite mature and is predominantly characterized by well-known and established products, applications and processes. This report provides the status of UPR market by year 2009 and forecast for 2015, by depicting market size, application breakdown, regional analysis etc. Economic recession of 2008-2009 has affected all the industries in the world including UPR market. This market has declined in 2009 and therefore, sales of the major players of UPR have also declined by 20-30% approximately. Over the next 5 years, total UPR consumption across the globe is expected to continue strong growth momentum at 6.3% CAGR. The UPR market is expected to reach US $ 5.8 billion by 2015.

This report provides forecast till 2015, it is expected that UPR market will grow in near future because of new applications and demands. As wind energy and construction market have shown highest growth in last few years it is expected that, this growth will facilitate UPR industry and it will continue the same performance and generate high revenue for the UPR manufacturer.

Some of the features of this market report are:
  • The market size and growth rates of the global UPR industry market.
  • Market for UPR used in FRP and non-FRP applications.
  • UPR market breakdown by applications such as transportation, construction, consumer goods, marine, wind energy, gelcoats etc.
