It is well known that imported GM soybean has been widely used for edible oil extraction in China. However, there are still lots of people without a clear idea of GM oil and non-transgenic oil. Under such circumstances, some edible oil enterprises have made irregularities in GM labeling, which is believed to mislead consumers to some extent.

Recently, Shandong Luhua Group Co., Ltd. (Luhua Group), a leading edible oil enterprise in China, was alleged to cheat consumers in the labeling of nut cooking oil. It is understood that the small components such as sunflower seed oil, walnut oil, camellia oil, grape seed oil, etc. are usually highlighted on the package of Luhua nut cooking oil serial products. However, soybean oil or rapeseed oil, as the main component of nut cooking oil, is not clearly marked on the package.

Actually, the unclear labeling for GM components in edible oil exists widely on the package of both domestic and foreign brands. For example, the Asian leading cooking brand 'Arawana' is also alleged to have irregularities in the GM labeling. Yihai Kerry as the producer 'Arawana' oil has heavily used GM soybean in producing edible oil, which is believed to have a huge impact on domestic non-transgenic soybean industry.
