Trans Link Systems (TLS) is the issuer of OV chip cards, the closed loop pre-paid cards used as payment for public transport throughout the Netherlands. In July 2014, the OV chip card became the only way to pay for travelling on all public transport systems throughout the Netherlands. This transition away from paper tickets was postponed for several years because of teething troubles with the OV chip card system.
