Statistics: fibre consumption for technical textiles in Japan, 1st quarter 2014 edition
This report includes statistical data and analysis of the Japanese man-made fibre and technical textiles industry under the following headings: man-made fibre production and consumption; man-made fibre consumption for technical applications; and production of technical textiles. It also includes an outlook for the Japanese technical textile industry, and contains a wealth of recently released data for 2013. Man-made fibre production in Japan remained more or less unchanged in 2013, following a decline in the previous year. As a result, production in 2013 was at its second lowest level although it was above the low recorded in 2009. Mill consumption of man-made fibre for industrial uses declined to its fourth lowest level in ten years, due almost entirely to a fall in consumption of domestically produced fibre. Consumption of fibre for tyre reinforcement fell to its second lowest level since 2001. Nonwoven fabric production, in contrast, rose to its third highest level on record and production of spunbonded fabric reached a record high. But production of industrial textile goods fell.
