Bulgaria Vegetable Oils and Fats Manufacture Market Report
In the first quarter of 2008 the share of the agricultural sector in the structure of Bulgaria's Gross Domestic Product dropped to 3.5%. In 2007 the agricultural sector contributed 5.1% to GDP, due to decreased production.
The main oilbearing crop areas in the country include northeastern, north central and southern Bulgaria.
Due to the unfavourable weather in 2007, Bulgaria's agriculture sector registered an annual decrease of 29.8% in value added. The prices of food products grew by 21.1% on the year, due to the decreased production in the country. In 2007 the inflation rate in Bulgaria went up to 11.6%.
Oil-bearing sunseed imports soared sixteen times to 4,387 tonnes between September and December 2007.
