The Hungarian real estate market is estimated at about HUF 2,000 bln annually. According to unadjusted data of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO), in the first quarter of 2008, gross domestic product (GDP) in Hungary marked a 1.7% growth year-on-year, due to higher output in both industry and agricultural sectors.
In the first quarter of 2008 the take-up of flats was expected to decline due to the oversupply on the local residential real estate market. Supply of new homes in 2008 is projected to increase by 9,000 units.
In the first half of 2008 turnover from office property transactions accounted for 55% of the total real estate turnover.
According to Ecostat, flats' take-up in Hungary is projected to decline in 2008, due to the oversupply of the Hungarian residential property market with new and used homes.
