This is an updated edition of this report which was last published in June 2011.
This report is based primarily on audited circulation data from BPA Worldwide. BSG has included Asian B2B trade magazines and general business titles with an audited circulation of more than 2,000. This approach resulted in a list of 49 publications which fall into three broad categories: 1) general business & finance titles; 2) technology, electronics & telecom titles; and 3) other trade titles.
General business titles account for 19 of the 49 publications and this category also accounts for seven of the top ten magazines ranked by circulation. The average circulation of the business titles is 186,016 – or more than three times higher than the other trade titles and more than five times higher than technology titles category. Other trade titles accounted for 46% of the 49 titles with an average monthly circulation of 60,093. Three magazines from this category make up the remaining entries in the top ten list by circulation. The average circulation of technology titles is just 34,209 and this category accounted for just eight of the total 49 publications.
Nine of the top ten magazines ranked by circulation are Chinese-language. The top ten consists of seven general business titles and three other trade titles. Six of the top ten magazines are produced by Chinese publishers including Vista, Chinese National Geography, Caijing, Manager, Mangazine and China Entrepreneur. The others are owned by Hong Kong-based Global Sources (Chief Executive China), and U.K.-based, Haymarket Media (Campaign Asia-Pacific and Finance Asia). Businessweek China is co-published by the China Commerce & Trade Press and Bloomberg.
