The Russian pasta market endures lifting against an economic crisis

Experts of «Information Agency «CredInform North-West» reached such conclusion having made marketing research: Russian pasta market: state and development trends.

Products of both domestic and foreign manufacturers such as Italy, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Brazil, China, and Ukraine are widely presented on the market. Also the Russian products are delivered to many countries; in this case it should be noted that import of pasta in 2008 fell 20% in kind, but it slightly grew in value terms at the expense of inflation.

Now the domestic market of pasta, according to experts, is on active stage of development. So, in first quarter of 2009 manufacture of pasta has increased by 10% in relation to the same period of last year. Thus experts note that the market grows at the expense of increase of cheap pasta output. Moreover middle and premium segments of the market had decreased though just these two segments provided stability of the market for last years.

The sales format and assortment of output goods keeps changing. In structure of pasta realization on long-term realization priority of unpacked low-quality products it is observed the essential increase in packed products share of middle price segment that sold in network shops. However it is necessary to note that the economic crisis gradually returns preferences of consumers in favour of cheap products.

With a considerable growth in wheat prices especially it concerns solid wheat; there was a change towards transition of part of population on pasta foods of "B" group that is on macaroni made of soft wheat grades.
