Romania Travel & Tourism Industry Examined by Euromonitor in Topical Research Report Available at MarketPublishers.com

05 Feb 2014 • by Natalie Aster

LONDON – In spite of the overall economic instability as a result of the recession, Romania’s travel and tourism industry somehow managed to maintain its performance indicators in 2012, whist consumer behaviour was more focused on safe decisions. The contribution of the local travel and tourism industry to the GDP reached nearly 2.5% as of 2012. Moving forward, to spur the growth of Romania’s tourism sector and thus create income and noticeable contribution to the country’s GDP, the government should pass legislation encouraging private initiatives. Furthermore, massive and urgent investments in road and infrastructure projects are also expected to be beneficial to the domestic tourism sector.

The amount of incoming visitors to Romania increased in 2012, two thirds of which were travelling for leisure and one third – for business. The bulk of tourists are coming from neighbouring countries. MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) tourism is regaining ground, with Bucharest still being the major destination. This is followed by coastal resorts that are being increasingly favoured by the incoming business travellers owing to improved service levels and upgraded all-inclusive holiday packages.

Topical study “Travel and Tourism in Romania” elaborated by Euromonitor International draws up a clear picture of the Romanian travel & tourism marketplace.

The research report discloses essential data (2009-2013) on the market sizing and shape, highlights the industry’s historical development and current position. A brief review of disposable income levels, annual holidays, and holiday taking habits is included. The report examines the degree of competition in the sector and top market participants. Detailed forecasts of the market’s development through 2018 are at hand in the study as well.
